Madison set a new state record for the All-Girls State Chess Championship with 52 girls competing in three sections: K-3, K-6, and K-12. Liberty Middle School was the ideal venue for this event now in its third year. A big thank you to LMS Principal Shannon Brown and LMS Chess Team Sponsor Whitney Stemple for being such great hosts for the State event. We also want to thank State Senator Arthur Orr, NASA, House of Staunton, US Chess and the St. Louis Chess Club for their support of this event. City Councilwoman Maura Wroblewski helped us hand out awards.
Tournament directors were: Todd Guthrie, Jeff Meyer, and Guy Calinsky. Complete results from the tournament can be found here. Photo credit: Scott Wilhelm.
