The following rules of conduct will be abided by all MCCL members - including students, parents, coaches, and anyone else associated with the club - at all times.  Infringements upon these rules, whether at an MCCL event or otherwise, will result in punitive action including, but not limited to, revocation of membership status, removal from MCCL events, and denied entry to future MCCL events for a period of time.

  1. Trustworthiness:  Cheating of any kind is prohibited.  All rules governing a tournament, whether USCF, FIDE, or otherwise, will be followed at all times.  Also, any member who is witness to cheating is expected to report it in a timely manner, even if the person cheating is a team member.
  2. Loyalty:  Your team is more important than any individual or friend, whether that person is on the team or an opponent.  You owe it to your team to give your best performance every time you sit at a chessboard.  Information shared among team members stays with the team, and may not be shared with opposing players in any way.
  3. Sportsmanship:  It is important to maintain good sportsmanship both with opponents and team members.  Maintain appropriate behavior after wins and losses.  Make sure that your words and actions with team members are uplifting (not teasing), especially when they have lost a game or are having other troublesome times.

This Code of Conduct applies at all times as long as you are a member of MCCL.
