Chess Clubs Meet Online

Every elementary student in Madison City Schools has a gold ChessKid.com account provided by the school system. This enables all elementary students to enjoy a chess extracurricular activity during the closure of school buildings. Elementary chess clubs or teams are meeting online to play chess and improve their chess skills by solving puzzles, completing lessons, or watching chess videos, and you can join them too online whether you were orignally a member of a school chess club/team or not. Elementary students can log in through Clever to gain access to your ChessKid account.

ChessKid Tournaments

ChessKid sets up tournaments you can join each day. Join the ChessKid Official Club so you can see all the tournaments available to play in. Then, when you log on, look to the left for the "Upcoming Tournaments" icon and see what tournaments you can join. Your own clubs may also set up tournaments for you to play with your friends who are members of that club. Here is an article telling you how to join tournaments on ChessKid. ChessKid Tip: Use a computer Browser to access Live Chess, not a mobile device of any kind.

To join tournaments, go to Play vs. Kid and click on the tournament you want to join at least 5 minutes before start time (you cannot join a tournament after it has started). The tournaments have various time controls and numbers of rounds, so be sure you can commit to playing for the duration before you join. When your round is over, you can watch other games still in progress. The next round will be paired when everyone has finished playing the current round, so stay online. Good luck!


MCCL Saturday Tournaments MCCL hosts two tournaments every Saturday in April: MCCL K-6 Saturday Tournament at 9 a.m. - Game 15; 5 rounds MCCL K-12 Saturday Tournament at 2 p.m. - Game 20; 4 rounds *If you are a current MCCL member, you have been added to the Madison City Chess League Club online. Join or renew today.	Monday Night Hour of Chess Although Monday night meetings at the Madison Library have been canceled, we want to invite all our kids to log on to ChessKid on Monday nights from 6-7 p.m. The larger the number of kids who log on at the same time, the better the opportunities to play kids in your ratings range. We hope to see you online! WHAT: MCCL Monday Night Hour of Chess WHERE: ChessKid.com WHEN: Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. CST	Next Madison All-Girls Tournament - Sunday 4/19 at 2 pm If you are a Madison girl with a ChessKid account you may already be added to our online Girls Chess Club which is hosting its next tournament on Sunday April 19 at 2 p.m. Just log on 5 minutes before the start time to join the tournament. Plan to be online for 4 rounds with a 15-minute time control per side. If you are not in the club, email Ms. Bartlett, and she will add you.

Or click on this icon To see which friends or classmates are online and challenge them to a game. You can challenge them by clicking on pawn by their name. The binoculars lets you see a game in progress.


Choose Play vs Kid	Tournament Options on the Right Tournaments that ChessKid is running or clubs you are members of are running appear on the right. Click on the tournament name you want to join up to 15 minutes before start time.	JOIN Click the orange JOIN button so you can join the tournament.
