Happy New Year to the Madison City Chess League Family!

Thank you to our entire Madison City Chess League family for continuing to support chess in our community amid the pandemic. 2020 offered many challenges, but MCCL was able to adjust and convert many tournaments to an online format, support weekly chess team practices that occur virtually at every school in Madison, and was even able to hold a first Halloween Chess Tournament at Madison City Schools Stadium. We look forward to 2021 and watching chess grow in our community.

MCCL has some big announcements to make for 2021 as we continue to see chess evolve with more online activities in light of Covid 19.

  • The MCCL Annual Meeting will be on January 16th at 4 p.m. via Zoom. Current MCCL members will be emailed the meeting link so you can participate and vote for the Board Slate which was shared with members in our latest newsletter.
  • The MCCL Board has approved accepting memberships outside Madison, recognizing how much we are playing and meeting online and to help promote chess education and grow participation.
  • MCCL Monday night chess activities resume on January 4th with a K-6 Fun Tournament at 6 p.m. and Monday Night Blitz for grades K-12 at 7 p.m. Be sure to renew your MCCL membership so you can participate.
  • In January, MCCL will host two Sunday All-Girls online tournaments: one one January 3rd at 2 p.m. and one on January 31st at 2 p.m. You must be a current member to participate.
  • MCCL Saturday practice tournaments resume on January 9th with a K-3 tournament at 9 a.m. and a K-12 tournament at 2 p.m. You must be a current MCCL member to participate.
  • Winter Knights is moving online on January 16th (details below).
