The MCCL summer chess camp is scheduled for the week of June 2 - June 6 at Journey Middle School. The registration fee per student is $175 (through Memorial Day). The late registration fee (after May 26) will be $225 per student. The section descriptions below may be adjusted based on the experience level of the students who register.

LEARN TO PLAY CHESS CAMP -
Half-Day Camp - $175
Monday-Friday Morning 8:30-11:30
a.m.
(For rising K-5th grade students who want to learn to play chess, the basic rules, point values of pieces, checkmate patterns and strategy – workbook provided) Instructor: Joel Friedman
INTRO to COMPETITION CHESS CAMP
- Half Day Camp - $175
Monday-Friday Morning 8:30 - 11:30
a.m. – K-5 section & 6-12th grade section
(For the student who is
relatively new to chess or has not played in rated tournaments, and wants to
get ready to compete in tournaments in the fall)
Instructors: Will Stevenson and Beau Sensing
BEGINNING COMPETITION CHESS CAMP
- Half-Day Camp -$175
Monday-Friday Afternoon 1:30-4:30
p.m. Instructor: Will Stevenson
(For K-5
students who are rated under 500; focused on tactics, endgames and tournament
rules and notation) - this camp is for younger students who have competed
in rated tournaments and have a US Chess rating under 500.
INTERMEDIATE COMPETITION CHESS
CAMP - Half Day Camp - $175

Chess rating of 500 - 1000)
ADVANCED
COMPETITION CHESS CAMP - Half Day Camp - $175

(For K-12 students with a US Chess rating above
1000)
The registration fee will increase to $225
after Memorial Day (May 26).
