Madison City Chess League will hold its Grade
Championships (formerly known as the City Chess Championship) on April
18, 2026, at Mill Creek Elementary School. We will again crown a chess
champion for each grade level from kindergarten through 12th Grade. This
is an open championship where any scholastic chess player
can register to compete by grade level. You do not
have to live in Madison or attend Madison City Schools to compete for the
championship in your grade. All school-age chess players are welcome to compete.

Membership: US Chess
membership is required for all sections (All sections rated)
Registration Fee: $20 for MCCL
members; $30 for non-members.
Deadline to Register: Wednesday,
April 15th, 8:00 pm.

Grades 4 - 12: G/60/d5; 4
rounds; Round times: 9:00, 11:30, 2:00, 4:30
Grades
K - 3: G/45/d5, 4 rounds; Round
times: 9:15, 11:15, 1:15, 3:15
Awards Ceremony at 7 pm. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. to the top 3
finishers in each grade level. Each Grade Champion in grades K-2 will
receive a $50 prize. Each Grade Champion in grades 3-12 will receive a
$100 prize.
