Memberships, Fees, And Deadlines
- USCF membership is required for rated sections, and must be obtained before registering for this tournament. USCF membership can be obtained online at uschess.org or by mail using this form.
- Entry Fee: Rated sections: $20;
Non-rated sections: $20; Free for MCCL members.
- Entry Deadline: Online entry by Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Mail-in entries postmarked by Saturday, January 2nd, 2016 and mailed to Columbia Elementary, 667 Balch Road, Madison, AL 35758. Online registration is greatly preferred.
- NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION.
Registration
The Winter Scholastic Chess Tournament (Game 30/d5) occurs on the same day as the Winter Knights Chess Tournament (Game 60/d5). Winter Scholastic has both Rated and Non-rated sections with shorter game times and lasts only four rounds. If you have never played in a chess tournament before, register for one of three non-rated sections according to grade level: K-3; 4-6; and 7-12. Sections for both Rated and Non-rated sections may be merged at the discretion of the tournament director.
Awards
Rated Sections: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trophies; Medals for 4th-6th place and Top Female.
Non-rated Sections: Medals for 1st-6th place and Top Female.
The Winter Knights is an open tournament for all students in good standing in their school (home school, public school or private school) chess clubs.
