The National Elementary Chess Championship at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville was a great experience for our kids.  Once again, MCCL brought the largest delegation from Alabama, and our kids learned so much and had the support of some wonderful coaches all weekend.

Team Room

Our team room located on the Mezzanine level was a wonderful place for our Madison families to gather and for kids to return from each round to review their games with their coaches. We even had Fun Master Mike visit our team room and sign some score books.

Tournament Play

Two ballrooms were used for the tournament games. The smaller Governor's Ballroom housed the K-1 sections with a side room for parents to wait and pick up their kids when they finished. The Delta Ballrooms on the main floor of the convention center housed the rest of the elementary competitors. It is difficult to describe how large and vast the room feels, but a few of these over-the-board photos gives you a glimpse into the playing hall.
