MCCL returns with a new and improved version of its Team Championship series and invites all 4-person teams from every school in North Alabama to participate on Saturday October 27, 2018.  All age groups will be included with the MCCL Team Cup also being awarded to the top Madison team in the middle/high school section. Because it is early in the school year, and coaches assign board orders for their team, no tournament report will be issued.  So this will be like a practice or non-rated tournament, although board order will be determined using current USCF ratings.

This is a great opportunity for all coaches to allow both developing and seasoned team members to experience the 4-person team format that is used during the State Scholastic Chess Championship in the spring. We are also awarding a Top Female team trophy in all sections, so this should make for some creative constructions of teams.

Coaches: You have the option of using a paper registration form and paying by check OR registering online. Everything you need to register can be found here. Individuals should not register for this tournament. Let your coach know if you would like to compete.

International Food Festival During NATS. Sign up now to bring a dish.

After our MCCL 5th Anniversary Celebration and International Food Festival, our families asked us to consider holding a similar event during a chess tournament so even more people could sample food and hold a fund raiser for MCCL. So this is your opportunity to bring food in three categories: Indian, European or Asian as well as dessert. This continues our 5th Anniversary celebration, and we will sell food tickets during NATS to raise money for MCCL. We appreciate everyone who participates. And, our kids will really enjoy the food in between rounds.

Discovery Middle School which is hosting the event will offer concession items. MCCL will also sell 5th Anniversary t-shirts while supplies last.
