When: Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Sections: Elementary Rated Sections Only: K-3 U300; K-3 Championship; 4th-6th U500; K-6 Championship (Your official published rating as of Nov. 1st will be used to assign sections.)
Round Times: 9:30, 11:00, 12:30, 2:15, 3:30 Time Control: Game 30/d5
Mandatory Players meeting: 9:15 a.m.
Memberships, Fees, And Deadlines
- 5 round Swiss, USCF rated. USCF membership is required for all sections, and must be obtained before registering for this tournament. USCF membership can be obtained online at uschess.org or by mail using this form.
- Entry Fee: $25 per individual (because this is an individual and team event, the registration fee has increased this year for all individuals)
- Deadline: Online entry by Wednesday November 15th, 2017.
- No Onsite Registration. No refunds after you have been paired.
Awards
This is an individual event, with secondary team prizes; team is four highest scorers. Teams may represent a school only. Pairings will be "team blind."
Individual Awards: Trophies for top 10 individuals in K-3 U300, K-3 Championship, 4-6 U500 (this section only available for 4th-6th graders), K-6 Championship. Medals to all individuals whose score ties for a trophy place, but loses out on tie‐break.
Team Awards: Trophies for top 5 teams in K-3 U300, K-3 Championship, 4-6 U500, and K-6 Championship sections.
MCCL Varsity Team Cup Championship
Students at Discovery and Liberty Middle Schools and Bob Jones and James Clemens High Schools will be selected by their coaches to compete on four-person teams representing their schools in the annual MCCL Varsity Team Cup Championship which will occur during Queen's Quest. This four-round team tournament will use a time control of 45 minutes with five-second delay, just like the State Scholastic chess championship. Because this event is sponsored by the Madison City Chess League at no charge to the competitors, all team members must be MCCL members in order to be registered for the event. The MCCL Team Cup Championship is not a rated event. MCCL will not submit a ratings report for the Team Cup portion of Queen's Quest.
Award: Winning team will receive the MCCL Team Cup to display at their school for one year and will be recognized at the MCCL Annual Dinner.
