2016 MCCL Annual Meeting Notice
The Madison City Chess League has had a successful first year as a non-profit organization in 2015. Although MCCL was established in 2013 and began hosting opportunities for kids to play chess in the Madison area over two years ago, it did not become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization until 2015.
Since becoming a non-profit organization and accepting charitable contributions to support its mission of promoting chess
education for K-12 students, MCCL provided (1) coaches for students who
competed at the 2015 National Elementary Chess Championship in Nashville; (2)
hosted International Master Danny Rensch who taught during Summer Knights Chess
Camp; and (3) hosted Grandmaster Alex Stripunsky for a National Chess Day Simul
and a fall break chess camp.
MCCL is pleased to report an increase in the number of students playing
competitive chess with the November 2015 Queen’s Quest having 172 students
competing.
On January 13, 2016 at 6:45 p.m. MCCL will conduct its Annual Meeting with one item on the agenda -- the election of the 2016 Board. MCCL members who have joined or renewed their membership by January 9, 2016 are eligible to vote on the Board slate. The Annual meeting will immediately follow the conclusion of the 2016 MCCL Challenge.
