The Saturday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 21st, will be the largest gathering of Madison chess players as Mill Creek Elementary hosts the second qualifier for the City Chess Championship.  Queen's Quest will be a chess extravaganza and the largest chess tournament of the year in Madison.  Register now to reserve your spot.

Queen's Quest will also have the first team events of the chess season recognizing the top 5 teams in the K-3 and K-6 sections, top 3 teams in the K-9 section, and top 2 teams in the K-12 section.

Mail in entries must be postmarked by Nov. 13th.  The online registration deadline is Nov. 19th. Like last year, anyone who registers past these deadlines must accept a first-round 1/2 point bye.

NEW THIS YEAR:  We are splitting the Individual K-6 section by adding a category for those in 4th-6th grades rated Under 500 (4-6 Under 500).  The K-6 section has been the largest single section of local, state and national tournaments, and it was time to divide that section to make that section manageable and the pairings more meaningful.  And, we will be awarding Top Female medals to the female student with the highest score who does not otherwise place and receive an award.

Also new this year, the Madison City Chess League will be offering player pairings online so everyone does not have to rush to a posted pairing sheet to find out who they are playing next.  Given the anticipated turnout, we want to reduce the hectic nature of posted pairings and getting everyone to their next round in as calm a manner as possible.  The pairings and standings will be made available at the same link one uses to register for the tournament--just scroll down.

Last, but not least, Queen's Quest will provide some of the most interesting events and dining options to make the day truly enjoyable.  Food trucks offering desserts  and Stevi B's pizza, salad and sno cones will delight players and parents.  A gourmet hot chocolate bar, craft room for little kids, a corn hole game, and a pamper-me-room for nail and eye make-overs and chair massage will make this chess tournament unlike any other!  A chess tournament lasts all day, and there is a lot of waiting in between rounds.  These amenities will make the wait much more enjoyable.
