Summer Knights Chess Camp
The Madison City Chess League is pleased to offer five (5) different chess camp opportunities for students K-12. You can register online for chess camp here. After the three-day camp that runs from Wed-Friday at Rainbow Elementary, your child can participate in a chess tournament on Saturday July 25th in both rated and non-rated sections and apply what was learned during chess camp. Classes For Competitive Players
Beginner Competition (USCF rating below 500) - This class focuses on how to set and avoid opening traps, strategy, endgames, and tournament prep. Designed for players who have competed in USCF chess tournaments.
MCCL Chess Instructor: Dr. Paul Mulqueen
Intermediate Competition (USCF rating 500–1000) - This class is designed for players with tournament experience.
Guest Instructor: IM Danny Rensch, VP Chess.com
Advanced Competition (USCF rating above 1000) - This class is designed for players who frequently play in tournaments.

Classes For Non-Competitive Players
Learn to Play Chess- This class will teach basics, how pieces move, point values, and rules. Designed for students who want to learn how to play and who want to join school chess clubs. Workbook provided.
MCCL Chess Instructor: Noel Newquist
Recreation Chess - This class focuses on the player who wants to play chess for fun and has very little to no competitive chess playing experience. Teaches basic chess rules, objectives, strategy, and openings. Encourages kids to play against each other and have fun playing chess. Great for getting kids ready to join a school chess club!
